Woman claims she was posing with rifle when she accidentally shot, killed boyfriend in Austin

The shooting occurred on Rampart Street in North Austin.

Austin police have identified the woman who allegedly shot and killed her boyfriend their residence on the 12500 block of Rampart Street on Dec. 23. 

Police identified the woman as 20-year-old Autumn King. She was taken into custody by the Lone Star Fugitive task force Monday in Pflugerville, Texas. She has been booked into the Travis County Jail and charged with manslaughter.

The victim was identified as 26-year-old Eric Charles Allen.

Police said the call came in at 12:34 p.m. on Christmas Eve, stating a man had been shot at a residence at 12507 Rampart Street. Upon arrival, police found Allen dead on scene.

The APD watch commander confirmed that King who lives at the residence was the one who shot Allen using a rifle. According to police, King and Allen were in a relationship and lived together at the residence.

King allegedly told police she was posing with a rifle and aiming it directly at Allen, who was going to take a photo of her, when she accidentally pulled the trigger.

It is believed two children were also on scene.

APD is still investigating if the shooting was an accident. They cannot confirm what kind of rifle was used.
