AUSTIN, Texas — There are a number of places where people can get free Thanksgiving meals in Austin.
Here's a list of some of those locations.
Caritas will be serving a Thanksgiving lunch. Diners may choose a sack lunch to go or dine in to eat.
When: Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: 611 Neches St.
H-E-B and the United Way for Greater Austin will host their annual free Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday. Volunteer shifts are also available from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
When: Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Palmer Events Center, located at 900 Barton Springs Road
The Central Texas Food Bank intends to hand out 17,000 turkeys and holiday meals this Thanksgiving. The food bank is also matching monetary donations through the end of the year.
When: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 6500 Montopolis Drive
Operation Turkey is an organization that provides and delivers free Thanksgiving meals nationwide.
When: Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon. Delivery expected between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Where: Volunteers will be preparing and packaging meals starting at 8 a.m. at Juliet Italian Kitchen, located at 10000 Research Blvd., Building C
Sunrise Community Church will host its annual Thanksgiving Day feast.
When: Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center, located at 4430 Menchaca Road
The Mount Olive Baptist Church will host a "celebration of love and feeding ministry."
When: Thursday
