Central Texas Food Bank hosting distribution events as cold front approaches

The Central Texas Food Bank said it feeds about 70,000 people every week.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Central Texas Food Bank says it is monitoring next week's winter weather forecast and is ready to mobilize to meet the community's food needs.

The food bank serves 21 Central Texas counties and provides food and groceries to about 70,000 people every week.

Those in need can access food by visiting the food bank's website and clicking “Find Food Now.” The food bank also has several distribution events planned over the next week. Times and locations are listed below.

Thursday, Jan. 11

  • Coppers Cove – 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
  • Bartlett – 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Friday, Jan. 12

  • Manor – Friday from 8 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
  • Luling – Friday from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 13

  • Fredericksburg – 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
  • KIPP School South in South Austin – 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 16

  • Church of Christ in East Austin – 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 17

  • Cameron – 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. 
  • Mexia – 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
  • Dale – 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Thursday, Jan. 18

  • Rockdale – 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
  • Nelson Field in northeast Austin – 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Friday, Jan. 19

  • VA Clinic in South Austin – 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
  • Lott – 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
  • ACC Hays in Kyle – 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 20

  • Del Valle High School in Del Valle – 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  • Waldeck – 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

The Central Texas Food Bank said Central Texas is "grappling with an unprecedented level of food insecurity," and the food bank is currently serving half a million people each month while also preparing to meet the community's needs in emergency weather scenarios.
