AUSTIN, Texas — With cooler temperatures on the way, many of us will start grabbing for our coats to keep warm. We all know that weather in Texas can be unpredictable, so the need for a coat could arise at any time.
Unfortunately, many children across Central Texas don’t have access to a warm winter coat.
That’s why KVUE, a long-standing partner of Coats for Kids, has once again teamed up with the Junior League of Austin, Jack Brown Cleaners and iHeartRadio in an effort to give more than 30,000 winter coats to Central Texas children in need during this year’s drive. Coats for Kids collects thousands of coats each year – in fact, last year, the drive gave its millionth coat to an Austin-area third grader!
This year's coat collection begins on Nov. 13 and runs through Dec. 6. If you would like to donate a new or gently used coat, you can drop it off at the KVUE news station, located at 3201 Steck Ave., or at any Jack Brown Cleaners across Central Texas.
You can also make a monetary donation online. Just $20 buys a new winter coat, but all donations are appreciated. Learn more about ways you can help.
Distribution week for the coats will be Nov. 30 through Dec. 8.
