H-E-B to host 35th Annual Feast of Sharing

The event will be held at the Palmer Events Center from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

AUSTIN, Texas — H-E-B is giving thanks early!

If you don't have Thanksgiving plans or are in need of a hot meal, H-E-B is hosting its 35th Annual Feast of Sharing event on Tuesday.

More than 10,000 people are expected to be served at the Palmer Events Center in Downtown Austin, according to Heidi Anderson, who leads public affairs for H-E-B Central Texas.

The free event will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is open to anyone who wants to come out.

Anderson said there will be tons of family-friendly activities, live music and a full spread menu consisting of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and other tasty side items, all prepared through H-E-B's mobile kitchen.

The annual feast serves more than 340,000 meals in 34 cities across Texas and Mexico and is part of H-E-B's Hunger Relief Program.

Anderson said the event couldn't be done without the more than 1,000 volunteers who helped organize and set up and who will serve the meals. She also noted that the decorations placed on the tables were crafted by students from local elementary schools.

"We're here to serve those that maybe couldn't have otherwise a hot Thanksgiving meal," Anderson said.

H-E-B also teamed up with Capital Metro. If you don't have a ride, there will be free one-day CapMetro passes that can be picked up from any H-E-B store across Austin.

H-E-B will also be offering free flu shots at the event.
