AUSTIN, Texas — CEO and Texas native Michael Dell and his wife, Susan Dell, will be honored with "History Making Texan" awards by the Texas State History Museum Foundation at the annual Texas Independence Day Dinner next spring.
The award banquet, which will be held on March 12, 2025, honors Texans who have made a historic impact on the state. The funds generated go to the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin.
Susan and Michael Dell are being honored in part for their work through the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, including their efforts with the Rebuild Texas Fund, which donated $42 million and raised $100 million in response to destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey.
“Michael and Susan Dell have been game changers in the fields of technology and philanthropy. Their stories show that Texas continues producing global leaders at the top of their fields," said Karl Rove, senior advisor to President George W. Bush and a co-chair of the dinner.
Michael Dell started his career selling computer parts as a student at the University of Texas. He later went on to found Dell Technologies Inc., one of the most successful computer manufacturing companies in history. In his 20s, he became the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
This past March, Michael Dell became the 12th richest person in the world with a net worth of $100 billion, according to Fortune.
