Organizations, real estate auction company partnering to build Austin woman a new home

Concierge Auctions, Giveback Homes and Habitat for Humanity are partnering on the project.

AUSTIN, Texas — With the median price of a single-family home in Austin on the rise, many question the city's affordability – especially those taking care of family members.

That's why real estate auction company Concierge Auctions is partnering with Giveback Homes and Habitat for Humanity to build a new home for Vera Tolden and her family.

More than two dozen volunteers are hard at work to help the family's dream come true.

"Vera is a single mother of two, she's a grandmother and is currently also taking care of her mom who's ill," Krystal Aeby, with Concierge Auctions, said. "Austin in particular, as you may know, has an affordability housing crisis right now. So, the average of a single-family home is about $400,000 and the average income is $32,000. So, we're happy to be out here helping in any way that we can."

The organizations plan to have the house built and ready for Tolden to move in by July of this year.
