AUSTIN, Texas — People in South Austin were given supplies they need Sunday thanks to the help of the Texas Adventist Community Services.
The Texas Adventist big red truck parked outside of the Austin South Seventh-Day Adventist church to distribute the supplies.
"We want folks to know we are here for them and for a reason," said Pastor Anthony Raybourn.
Raybourn and a group of volunteers passed out much-needed toiletries and household supplies, like shampoo and mops. They also passed out clothes for all sizes.
"This area has a lot of low-income residents who may not get those things that they need and we want to meet that need any way we can," said Raybourn.
Starlicia Winston is thankful she was able to get the items her one-year-old daughter needed.
"They were willing to help provide things I need that I couldn't get myself at the moment," explained Winston. "I got her some shirts and pampers and wipes and a few blouses that I found."
On the inside of the church there was a health fair, where people could get informed on healthy living and their blood pressure checked.
Raybourn told KVUE he wants to reassure the community they can lean on the church.
"We are like first respondents in the community and they can come here for anything they need," said Raybourn.
Raybourn said they still have toiletries and clothes to give out, so if you need them give them a call at 512-442-7888. The church is located at 132 Eberhart Lane in Austin.
