A man was arrested in Austin Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend for not performing sexual favors, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police were dispatched to 1137 Gunter Street regarding a disturbance call, where officers found both a man and a woman with severe injuries. Both of them were taken to a hospital.

The affidavit stated the incident began when the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Gabriel Houston, asked his girlfriend for a sexual favor and she refused. The two got into an argument, and, according to the affidavit, Houston's girlfriend told police he grabbed her, threw her on the bed and stabbed her in the arm. The woman was able to retreat to a roommate's bedroom, but while opening the door, Houston allegedly stabbed her in the back three times before she fell to the floor, the affidavit stated.

Houston's girlfriend then returned to her feet, went to her room, and tried to close the door, but Houston immediately followed her into the room, according to the arrest affidavit. The affidavit said Houston's girlfriend jumped out of a window when Houston closed the door because she feared being alone in the room with him. She told police she believed he would slit her throat.

The woman told police her last memory from the incident was Houston laying beside her as he carved his neck and arms, the affidavit stated.

Houston's girlfriend was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where X-rays revealed a broken vertebrae in her neck. Medical staff also treated three stab wounds in her back, the affidavit said.

Houston was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first degree felony. His bail was set at $100,000.
