AUSTIN -- A man has been charged with aggravated assault after threatening to stab a customer at a South Austin Burger King, according to police.
The alleged victim told police that he was charging his phone inside the restaurant on Tuesday when Michael Gentry, 44, approached him and started cursing at him. An arrest affidavit states that the man did not know Gentry. When the man went to the counter to order, Gentry followed him and continued calling him names. According to the affidavit, the customer asked Burger King staff to call the police.
That's when Gentry pulled out a pocket knife and pointed the blade at the victim, threatening to stab him, according to police.
The restaurant manager called the police and Gentry left the Burger King. Police found Gentry walking southbound on the southbound frontage road of Interstate 35. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with bond set at $15,000.
