SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Police have arrested a man accused of robbing a smoke shop in San Marcos and shooting a store clerk, police say.
San Marcos and Hays County SWAT officials arrested 20-year-old Steven Carlos Hernandez on Thursday in the 2300 block of Clovis Barker Road in San Marcos.
Police say Hernandez, armed with a pistol, entered the Gotta Habit Smoke Shop at 700 North LBJ Drive Sunday evening. Police say the store clerk, 25-year-old Patrick William Reilly, confronted Hernandez and was shot in the chest. Police said Hernandez then ran away toward the Treehouse Apartments on LBJ Drive.
Hernandez is in the Hays County Law Enforcement Center charged with aggravated robbery. Police say additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
