Man arrested after shooting death in southeast Austin

David Urias Mejia-Villagran, 42, is accused of killing 28-year-old Jorge Ordonez-Perez at an apartment complex on Willow Creek Drive.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) has arrested a man believed to be behind a shooting death in southeast Austin.

The arrest came after deputies with the Hays County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) responded to a call of a disturbance in Kyle on Dec. 19. While investigating the incident, deputies learned that 42-year-old David Urias Mejia-Villagran- who was involved in the incident- may have also been involved in a homicide that occurred in the 2000 block of Willow Creek Dr. in Austin.

APD officers responded to the South Shore apartment complex and located a man, identified as 28-year-old Jorge Ordonez-Perez, lying in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He died on the scene.

Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Unit specialists with APD further investigated and discovered that Villagran had allegedly shot Perez during a confrontation regarding a romantic relationship Perez was having with Villagran's wife.

Villagran has been charged with first-degree murder.
