AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating a fatal shooting in southeast Austin that happened on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
APD said just before 11 a.m., the department received multiple 911 calls of shots fired in the parking lot of the Greenbriar Apartments, located at 2319 Greenfield Parkway.
When officers arrived, they were flagged down by a person who said they saw a man who needed help. Officers located a man, later identified as 40-year-old Keith Bedford, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:12 a.m.
Police believe this was an isolated incident but said no one is in custody as of Monday, Oct. 2. The investigation is still active and ongoing, according to police.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact APD at 512-974-TIPS or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
This is being investigated as Austin's 46th homicide of 2023.
