AUSTIN, Texas — A man was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly killing his father at a South Austin home.
The Austin Police Department said at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, officers responded to a call in the 10900 block of Mickelson Drive.
Shortly after officers arrived on the scene, APD said 31-year-old Jesse Anthony Rivera came out of the house and surrendered without incident. Officers entered the house and found his father, 51-year-old Jesse Rivera Jr., suffering from what appeared to be multiple stab wound and blunt-force trauma to his head.
Jesse Rivera Jr. died at the scene.
APD homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to process the scene and interview Jesse Anthony Rivera and witnesses. APD said investigators believe the younger Rivera struck his father in the head several times with a blunt object, then stabbed him.
Jesse Anthony Rivera was arrested and charged with murder.
