AUSTIN — The Austin Police Department identified the suspect who is accused of committing an aggravated robbery at a convenience store on Sept. 23 and who was captured on one of the business' surveillance videos.
According to police, the man, identified in an arrest affidavit as Antoine Javar Crittendon, 36, entered a convenience store in the 2300 block of the westbound service road of E. Ben White Blvd. around 8:40 p.m. He then displayed a semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash, fleeing the scene in a dark gray or black SUV.
Police said no injuries were reported.
Crittendon was described by authorities in the affidavit as a black man in his 30s with a short, thin build. He was wearing a baby blue hoodie, a baby blue Nike baseball hat, and black pants in surveillance video, according to the affidavit.
Police said on Sept. 27, after a news release was forwarded to news organizations across the city, they received a Crime Stoppers tip, identifying the suspect as Crittendon. Authorities said Crittendon's description in a previous booking photo matched the description seen in the surveillance video.
Travis County Jail records do not show Crittendon in custody, as of Friday, Sept. 28. He faces a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
