Gunman identified after being shot by deputies in Bastrop County

Four deputies involved in the shooting were unharmed and have been placed on administrative leave.

AUSTIN, Texas — Deputies in Bastrop County were involved in a shooting incident that occurred this weekend.

According to the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), the incident occurred after 10 p.m. Saturday at a residence near FM 969 in Bastrop. A female occupant of the residence fled to a neighbor's house where she reported the incident.

Two BCSO units responded just after 10:30 p.m. After police arrived, the suspect, identified as 61-year-old Seth Thomas Robertson, fired his weapon at deputies.

Deputies fired back but were unsure if they had hit Robertson. More deputies arrived, at which point Robertson raised his arms as if he was about to shoot at them. Deputies then shot at Robertson, hitting him twice before subduing him. He was then taken to the hospital for treatment, where he is listed as being stable.

All four deputies involved in the incident were uninjured, but have been placed on administrative leave, as is protocol.

Robertson is expected to be charged with attempted capital murder.
