A man has been charged with intoxication assault after police said he caused a crash, leaving a victim with a variety of injuries.

On March 22, police responded to a crash call involving a MAC truck, a silver Toyota and a Chevrolet pickup along the southbound service road of South Interstate 35, according to the affidavit. When police arrived on scene, an officer allegedly said that he identified the driver of the Chevrolet truck as Donald Rose, 26, who had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath.

Rose was transported to a hospital were he told police that he had consumed three or four beers earlier in the night and was driving home when the crash happened, police said.

According to police, Rose rear-ended the Toyota, causing the driver to rear-end the MAC truck in front of her. The driver of the Toyota suffered from multiple fractured ribs and a lacerated lung as a result of the collision, police said.

Rose, who police said had previous driving while intoxicated convictions, has a bond set at $30,000. According to online records, Rose is not in police custody as of Monday afternoon.
