Police searching for suspect in northeast Austin hit-and-run that killed pedestrian

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian last month.

Police said the crash happened on Sept. 17 at approximately 6:24 a.m. in the 7400 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard northbound, at Springdale Road.

The pedestrian, later identified as 43-year-old Frank Ramos, was pronounced dead on the scene. The suspect drove away from the scene without stopping or calling 911.

The suspect vehicle is described as a 2013 or 2014 Chrysler 200 of unknown color with possible damage to the front-passenger side and a broken front-passenger side headlight.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 64th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 69 deaths. On the date of this crash in 2023, 65 fatal crashes resulted in 68 deaths.
