Man killed in northeast Austin stabbing identified

Police said a suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified a man killed in a homicide in northeast Austin on Friday, July 12.

APD said around 4 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a home in the 8200 block of Grayledge Drive. The 911 caller said someone had been stabbed and a suspect had run from the scene.

When officers and Austin-Travis County EMS medics arrived, they found the body of 31-year-old Edgar Yudiel Granados, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to process the scene and interview witnesses, APD said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at 512-974-TIPS or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.

This case is being investigated as Austin’s 33rd homicide of 2024.
