AUSTIN, Texas — Kaitlin Armstrong has started the process of appealing her recent murder conviction.
On Nov. 16, Armstrong was convicted of murdering semi-professional cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson in East Austin on May 11, 2022. On Nov. 17, she was sentenced to 90 years in prison.
Now a court document shows that Armstrong filed a notice of appeal on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The document does not explain why Armstrong is appealing the conviction.
And that wasn't the only update in Armstrong's case this week. On Thursday, Nov. 30, Travis County District Attorney José Garza announced that the DA's Office has filed a motion to dismiss the "escape causing bodily injury" charge against Armstrong.
The charge was the result of Armstrong's attempted escape from police custody on Oct. 11.
Garza said that his office decided to drop the charge after consulting with both law enforcement and Wilson's family.
