AUSTIN, Texas — The murder trial for Kaitlin Armstrong continued with Day 3 of testimony on Monday.
Armstrong is accused of killing semi-professional cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson in East Austin on May 11, 2022. She faces a first-degree murder charge, as well as a felony charge related to an attempted escape in October.
When Day 3 of testimony began on Monday, Armstrong's defense attorneys cross-examined Colin Strickland, Armstrong's on-again, off-again boyfriend who also once had a relationship with Wilson.
KVUE Senior Reporter Tony Plohetski has been in the courtroom each day of the trial, livetweeting updates.
Recap of Day 2 of testimony
Strickland first took the stand on Friday, where he testified that he had a brief relationship with Wilson in October 2021, but that they did not have a romantic relationship after that.
Strickland also testified that he and Armstrong had a pattern of breaking up and getting back together.
In May 2022, Strickland and Wilson went to Deep Eddy Pool before Strickland dropped Wilson off at the East Austin apartment where she was staying while she was in town. Strickland told police that he had no communication with Wilson after that.
On Friday, Strickland told the court he was dating Armstrong at the time of Wilson's death but said he kept his friendship with Wilson a secret because of Armstrong's jealousy.
Prosecutors showed body camera video that included Strickland's reaction when he was told Wilson had been killed. Strickland agreed to give police a statement, and authorities have said they ruled him out as a suspect.
