HAYS COUNTY, Texas — A Hays County man will spend the next 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a child and possessing child pornography, as well as other charges.

The Hays County District Attorney’s Office said on Monday, 45-year-old Josh Devereaux Jarratt of Kyle, Texas, pleaded guilty to continuous sexual abuse of a child, two counts of indecency with a child by contact, one count of indecency with a child by exposure and 30 counts of possession of child pornography.

Over the course of several years, the DA's Office said Jarratt had been sexually abusing a child in his home. In 2021, that child called a friend for help, prompting the Hays County Sheriff’s Office to investigate. The victim also informed detectives that Jarratt possessed child pornography.

A search warrant was executive at Jarratt's home, where detectives found multiple devices that contained more than 1,000 photos and videos of child pornography. Detectives also found multiple explicit photos and videos that Jarratt took of the victim, as well as a child-sized sex doll.

Due to the nature of these crimes, Jarratt will not be eligible for parole and must serve his full 40-year sentence.
