LOCKHART, Texas — The Lockhart Police Department (LPD) is investigating its first homicide of the year after a man died early Friday morning.
At approximately 3 a.m., officers received an initial call about gunfire near Trinity and Rosewood streets. LPD and Lockhart Emergency Medical Services then responded to an additional call near South Colorado Street and East Prairie Street, where they found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim, identified as 20-year-old Carlos Sanchez, was taken to a Kyle hospital, where he died roughly one hour after the initial call was made.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident connected to a disturbance that happened the night before. Police have identified a juvenile person of interest, but no arrests have been made.
