Police have charged a man in connection to the sexual assault of a teen girl in Williamson County.
Court documents show the victim provided DNA paternity test results to Taylor police in November that showed Jose Angel Ortiz, 23, was the father of her 18-month old child. Police said they were able to determine she was 15 or 16 and Ortiz was 20 or 21 when her child was conceived.
The affidavit states the victim told police she was aware of the age difference between her and Ortiz, but “was under the impression that charges could not be filed” against Ortiz due to the amount of time that had passed. She estimated had sex with him “one hundred or more times,” mostly in Taylor, when she was a juvenile.
Ortiz was booked into the Williamson County Jail on Dec. 8. Online records state he is being held on $20,000 bond.
