Pflugerville man arrested, accused of impersonating Austin police officer

An investigation was launched after photos of Sean Michael MacDonald in an APD uniform came to light.

AUSTIN, Texas — A Pflugerville man has been arrested after allegedly impersonating an Austin Police Department officer.

According to APD, an investigation was launched on Jan. 16, after photos of 35-year-old Sean Michael MacDonald in an APD uniform came to light. He was not recognized as a present or past APD officer, the department said.

APD’s Aggravated Assault Unit and Violent Crimes Task Force investigated MacDonald and charged him with false identification as a peace officer on Monday.

APD is asking for anyone who has had contact with MacDonald while representing himself as an Austin police officer to contact the department. This includes instances of stating he was a police officer and instances where he took action as an Austin officer, APD said.

On Monday, Jan. 22, MacDonald was charged with false identification as a peace officer.
