Man flees on bicycle after robbing a bank in Austin, police say

Police said a bank robbery occurred in the 7900 block of Shoal Creek Blvd. Monday morning.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department is seeking a suspect who was seen fleeing the scene of a bank robbery with a bicycle on the 7900 block of Shoal Creek Blvd.

Police said the call for the robbery came in around 9:21 a.m. 

Police said the suspect entered the bank, demanded money and showed a handgun.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 years old and around six feet tall with a medium build, according to police.

Police said he was wearing a green hoodie jacket, black pants and carried a black bag. He reportedly took off on a blue bicycle, heading north on Shoal Creek Boulevard.

This is the sixth bank robbery of the year in Austin.

Police ask that if anyone has seen anyone matching the suspect's description to please contact them at 512-974-5092.

Police do not believe there is a threat to the public, but they do say people should be on the lookout for the suspect.

There are no injuries reported from the incident.
