AUSTIN, Texas — A man remains in the Travis County Jail following a deadly shooting earlier this month.
Court documents obtained by KVUE show 49-year-old Carlos Rivera has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a 20-year-old to death during a car show in East Austin on Feb. 3.
Rivera was allegedly one of four suspects involved in a confrontation with a group of people in another vehicle. According to the documents, Christian Loredo was shot to death while sitting in his vehicle as he and a family member tried to leave the car show.
The family member was also punched in the face by one of the suspects and reportedly had his cellphone and money from his wallet taken as he tried to run away.
According to the court documents, witnesses allegedly spotted Rivera firing into the vehicle from about 10 feet away near the back passenger side.
The case is being investigated as Austin's eighth homicide of 2024. Rivera is being held in jail on a $1 million bond.
