AUSTIN, Texas — A man was arrested in East Austin after allegedly recording himself while threatening to kill a neighbor.

Austin police were called out to a neighborhood on Craigwood Drive on July 17 after two people said they were being threatened with a gun.

Officers arrived and found two men about a block apart yelling at each other. Both were detained and frisked for weapons, but no guns were found.

According to an affidavit obtained by KVUE, 20-year-old Oswaldo Solis was walking down the street when he started recording a man he has a "long-lasting quibble" with. The two exchanged insults when Solis allegedly pointed a gun at the man and threatened to kill him.

The man pulled out his phone and started recording Solis before Solis returned to his house. Both men then called police on each other.

Solis accused the other man of following him home and said he only started recording because of a history of harassment between the two. In a video shown to police, Solis is recording when the screen briefly goes black. Police said during that time, they heard a gun slide being racked in the video.

Witnesses said they didn't see Solis point a gun, but that he appeared to be holding a weapon in his pocket during the altercation. Police said Solis seemed to be nervous during their investigation and that he told his mother not to let officers search the house.

Later, Solis allegedly admitted to taking a gun out during the disturbance and ditching it in the backyard before police arrived. He also told investigators he couldn't remember if he pointed the gun at the other man.

Investigators later seized a loaded handgun in the backyard of Solis' home. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
