AUSTIN, Texas — A stabbing in North Austin left a man seriously hurt and, after being transported to Dell Seton Medical Center by EMS, he died from his injuries.
The stabbing occurred around 8:20 p.m. Sunday at the Solano Apartments off I-35, according to Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS).
Police said they arrested Sergio Torres-Quesada, 20, that night for allegedly murdering Erick Reytor-Ramirez.
According to the affidavit, Ramirez was spending time with friends in the same apartment complex Quesada lives in.
Police said a witness told them there was a disagreement between Ramirez and Quesada on a Facebook photo that was posted.
According to the affidavit, Ramirez allegedly knocked on the door of the apartment and walked in after a witness opened the door. Ramirez found Quesada in the bathroom and he allegedly attacked Quesada.
The affidavit said, according to witnesses, Ramirez and Quesada were the only two in the bathroom and it wasn't until Ramirez left the room that he had a stab wound.
Police said two witnesses in the apartment during the incident said Ramirez exited the bathroom bleeding, holding his side, stating he had been stabbed.
Police said they received the call around 8:19 p.m. and the first arriving officer held pressure on the injury until ATCEMS arrived. The victim was then transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas. He succumbed to his injuries the following day at 2:40 p.m.
Quesada was originally booked into the Travis County jail for second-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but the charges have been upgraded to murder after the death of Ramirez.
