MANOR, Texas — A Lagos Elementary School teacher has been arrested after she allegedly attempted to stab her boyfriend with a kitchen knife after a night of drinking.
Officers responded to reports of a family disturbance on Jaron Drive around 10:48 p.m. on Sunday. Police said the caller reported that his girlfriend had "lost it" and attacked him with a knife and that she was currently locked in a bathroom upstairs.
Upon arrival, police said they found a kitchen knife around 12 inches long next to the staircase. They discovered that the suspect, Yamile Uribe, was asleep in her room at the time. When she awoke, police said they detained her and placed her into handcuffs for safety.
The victim reported that they had been drinking and were intoxicated when they began arguing. He reported that he rejected her sexual advances and the argument began after she began calling him a "homo" and other names he found offensive. She then reportedly charged him with the kitchen knife and swung it at his head. He said he had to do a "roll" to get out of her way and the knife struck a couch. After he was able to get the knife out of her hands, he said she went upstairs.
After speaking with Uribe, police said she appeared intoxicated and had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and smeared makeup.
Police said Uribe, 41, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
