One person found dead at Lake Austin early Tuesday morning

Once officers were on the scene, the woman was pulled out of the water and pronounced dead.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating after one person was found dead in Lake Austin.

At 3:37 a.m. on March 7, APD received multiple 911 calls from neighbors in the surrounding area stating that someone was screaming for help. Officers were dispatched to Lake Austin and arrived on scene at 3:52 a.m. to discover a vehicle fully submerged in the water.

Later it was "understood" by officers that someone was inside the submerged vehicle, according to APD Spokesperson Alexandra Parker. Investigators believe that the vehicle went down the boat ramp and into Lake Austin.

At 4:01 a.m., rescue swimmers entered the water. Five minutes later, rescuers discovered a woman in her 30s in the water. Medical personnel began performing life-saving measures on her, but she was later pronounced dead at 4:16 a.m.

In addition to APD officers, APD Homicide detectives were at the scene investigating. At this time, homicide detectives believe this death was accidental and "there are no signs of foul play."

Investigators believe that another individual was inside the vehicle with the woman, but they are unsure at this time.

No further information is available at this time.
