3 charged after person found beaten, shot following reported kidnapping in eastern Travis County

Authorities recovered several kilos of crystal meth, more than 30 firearms and more than $12,000 in cash following their arrests.

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — Three people face multiple charges after an organized crime ring bust in eastern Travis County.

An investigation began after a victim was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint outside of La Mexicana Supermercado FM 969 near Hornsby Bend on Jan. 26, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said the victim was found beaten with his eyes swollen shut, as well as shot in the leg. After weeks of investigating, authorities were able to arrest two people connected to the kidnapping on Thursday.

According to an affidavit obtained by KVUE, the victim was kidnapped at gunpoint in front of his wife and escorted into a vehicle before being taken away. The alleged kidnappers called the victim's wife and demanded $5,000 within the next hour or they would shoot him in the head.

Several hours after the kidnapping, the vehicle used in the incident was located outside of an East Austin apartment complex. Meanwhile, the victim was found seriously hurt outside of a North Austin apartment complex soon after.

Following a weekslong investigation, Luis Montemayor, a 56-year-old from Dallas, and Alyxandra Martinez, a 33-year-old from Austin, were arrested and booked into the Travis County jail. Both face charges of aggravated kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated kidnapping for ransom and engaging in organized criminal activity.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old Eugene Tae was already in custody in Travis County and now faces an additional charge of engaging in organized criminal activity.

Court documents revealed Montemayor was being investigated by Austin police under the name "Diablo" and was associated with a property known as "El Rancho" on East Howard Lane in Manor. The affidavit states that's where the victim was taken following the alleged kidnapping.

Following their arrests, authorities collected 19 pistols, a revolver, 16 long guns, ammunition, 3 kilos of crystal meth, more than $12,000 in cash, stolen credit and debit cards, stolen electronic devices and a stolen vehicle.
