AUSTIN, Texas — One person has died after being hit by a vehicle in South Austin early Tuesday morning.
According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the incident occurred just before 1:30 a.m. on July 30, when officers responded to a call of a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 1000 block of W. William Cannon Drive. The vehicle left the scene after the accident.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital where he later died. The driver of the vehicle and the vehicle's make and model have not been identified.
The investigation is still ongoing, and APD says fatality information may change.
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 46th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in a total of 49 fatalities for the year.
