AUSTIN – The Court of Criminal Appeals granted a motion by former Gov. Rick Perry's legal team on Friday to move back oral arguments in the case against him.
According to KVUE's partners at the Austin American-Statesman, Perry's lawyers asked the arguments be rescheduled because a key attorney had scheduled a vacation in Italy.
Arguments were initially set for Nov. 4 on Perry's request to dismiss a charge of abusing his powers as governor.
David Botsford, the lawyer set to argue the case, asked the court to reschedule "to any other date convenient to the court" because of a prepaid trip to Florence with his wife that will keep them out of Austin until the evening of Nov. 4.
In addition, the court announced it accepted an appeal by prosecutors seeking to reinstate the coercion of a public official charge that had been struck down by a lower court.
Perry's next court date is set for Nov. 18.
