YMCA teacher at Pflugerville ISD day care program accused of 'inappropriate physical' incidents with students

Court records show there are five active warrants out for Geraline Browning, all for injury of a child.

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Police are investigating a YMCA of Central Texas teacher at a Pflugerville ISD day care program for several incidents involving “inappropriate physical redirection” of students in her care.

According to Pflugerville ISD, while checking video for an unrelated request, staff discovered footage of one of the incidents at the YMCA Childcare Development Center at Northwest Elementary School. The center is part of a partnership between the school district and the YMCA to provide child care for full-time district staff members.

Staff were "deeply disturbed" and notified YMCA leadership, the Pflugerville ISD Police Department and Child Protective Services, Pflugerville ISD said. The staff member, Geraline Wilson Browning, was removed from the classroom and families were notified.

After discovering the video, district staff continued to review all available classroom footage, revealing additional incidents involving Browning. Those incidents were also shared with relevant authorities, Pflugerville ISD said.

“We understand the gravity of these situations and the safety of our students is always our top priority,” the school district said in a statement. “We have received assurances from the YMCA that they have implemented additional staffing, training and leadership oversight at the YMCA Childcare Center to enhance care and safety measures.”

Pflugerville ISD did not provide more details on what happened during the alleged incidents.

The school district said it is working with the YMCA to guarantee video monitoring access to the classroom and ensure the safety of all children in the program.

“We remain dedicated to the safety and well-being of our students and will continue to take every measure possible to ensure a safe learning environment,” the district said.

Court records show there are five active warrants out for Browning, all for injury of a child.
