Police arrested a 45-year-old man on March 4 after approximately 14 pounds of cocaine was found in his vehicle.

According to an arrest affidavit, a Cedar Park police officer began following Marcos Chavez-Ayala’s 2007 Nissan along after receiving an agency assist call from the Austin Police Department. The officer said he saw the Nissan turn from Park Street onto Old U.S. 183 and then onto North Bell Boulevard without signaling.

APD and CPPD stopped the car along the 3000 block of FM 1431, and an APD K-9 alerted officers to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. Chavez-Ayala and a passenger were detained while authorities took the vehicle to a city maintenance facility.

Police found a modified compartment in the rear wheel well in which 12 taped bundles of cocaine, weighing 14 pounds, were found.

Chavez-Ayala was booked into the Williamson County Jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Online records show he is being held on $400,000 bond.
