Round Rock police locate body of missing shooting victim in Milam County

Police said Shawn Joseph was shot and transported from the Walmart parking lot on East Palm Valley Boulevard on Oct. 5. His body was found on Oct. 17.

MILAM COUNTY, Texas — Detectives with the Round Rock Police Department (RRPD) have located the body of a missing shooting victim nearly two weeks after he was killed.

On Friday, Oct. 6, RRPD officers arrived at the Walmart parking lot at 4700 E. Palm Valley Blvd. in response to a suspicious vehicle. Shortly after, officers confirmed the vehicle belong to missing Cedar Park resident Shawn Joseph.

Investigators determined that Joseph, 30, was shot in the parking lot late Thursday evening, Oct. 5, and transported from the scene by the man who shot him. The suspect, 31-year-old Royce Loggins, was later arrested for aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping in Haltom City, Texas, and extradited back to Williamson County.

Nearly two weeks later, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, RRPD detectives located Joseph's body in a rural area of Milam County.

The police department thanked the public and the following law enforcement agencies for their help with this investigation: the Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers and their Air Unit, the FBI, Texas Search and Rescue, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, the Haltom City Police Department, the Cedar Park Police Department, the Milam County Sheriff’s Office and the Buckholts Volunteer Fire Department.

RRPD also extending its "prayers and heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Shawn Joseph during this difficult time."

Additional charges against Loggins are pending as of Oct. 18, according to RRPD.
