Man arrested after shooting prompts lockdown at Round Rock hospital

Police believed the suspect was inside the hospital, causing the lockdown.

ROUND ROCK, Texas — A man has been arrested after a shooting on State Highway 130 that led to a lockdown at a Round Rock hospital on Wednesday morning.

The U.S. Marshals' Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Christopher Dwayne Mims, 32, in Austin after the Pflugerville Police Criminal Investigations Division filed an arrest warrant for aggravated assault with a weapon, with a $100,000 bond.

Mims is accused of shooting his girlfriend on Tuesday night while driving northbound on SH 130 through Pflugerville around 10:45 p.m. The victim was taken to Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital and is in a stable condition, the City of Pflugerville said in a statement.

The lockdown had been lifted earlier in the morning of March 17 at Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital after police searched the building for Mims.

Pflugerville PD said Mims drove a pickup truck to Baylor Scott & White in Pflugerville, dropped the victim off and she was transferred to Ascension Seton Williamson in Round Rock.

Round Rock PD confirmed to KVUE that no shots were fired on the Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital campus.

Pflugerville PD said it appears to be an isolated incident.

Mims has been transported to Travis County Central Booking.
