San Marcos police searching for man caught on surveillance vandalizing post office

The suspect can be seen kicking a self-service kiosk twice and kicking the office's glass door, causing it to crack.

AUSTIN, Texas — The San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) is asking for the public's assistance in locating a man who was caught on surveillance vandalizing a post office and causing around $6,000 in damage.

According to police, the suspect entered the post office on Bugg Lane at around 10:30 p.m. on May 19.

The suspect packaged items and printed labels before attempting to use the package drop box, which appeared to be jammed. After repeatedly trying to force the drop box open, he returned to the original self-service kiosk and kicked the monitor twice.

He then took his packages and walked to the front door, before kicking it as well, causing the glass to crack.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s with brown hair and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a brown baseball cap, glasses, a peach-colored polo shirt, light-colored shorts, white socks and gray-and-white shoes

He drove away from the scene in a silver SUV.
