JARRELL, Texas -- An investigation is underway at Jarrell Elementary School after administrators received reports of a possible sexual assault. Because it's a sexual assault involving children little information is being released.
We initially got word of this in an email from a concerned parent. School officials confirmed they are working with law enforcement to investigate an incident between two elementary students but won't say much else.
"I worry, I worry about my children," said Frances Hernandez, who's grandson attends the school. "He's in Kinder. It's his first year."
She walks him to school everyday and said letting go isn't always easy.
"I don't want anything to happen to him," she explained.
Now School officials are trying to figure out if something did happen between two other young students. They're investigating a possible sexual assault. Superintendent Dr. Bill Chapman said the school sent a letter home to parents Wednesday about the incident and released a statement saying:
"The Jarrell ISD has received an allegation of a sexual assault involving two elementary students. The District takes the personal safety of each student seriously and the District is working closely with all appropriate law enforcement to investigate this matter and is taking all appropriate actions. Due to the sensitive nature of this matter and in respect of the privacy of the students involved, JISD cannot make any further comment."
Every parent and grandparent Kvue spoke to said it's the first they've heard of it.
They aren't the only ones. Jarrell Police didn't know about it and told Kvue the school would be in the Williamson County Sheriff's Office jurisdiction. But when we called them, they didn't know about it either.
"There's not a lot of information. I really do want to know more," Hernandez said.
We reached out to the superintendent to find out which agency he reported to, but have yet to hear back.
