Man arrested for father's murder near Community First! Village

The shooting happened Sunday night near the community for people exiting homelessness.

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — A man has been arrested for his father's murder near a community for people coming out of chronic homelessness, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office (TCSO).

The TCSO said the incident was first reported by 911 callers as a disturbance. Callers then began reporting shots fired near a bus stop at 9301 Hog Eye Road, where the Community First! Village is located.

At around 9:36 p.m., deputies responded and found a man – later identified as 61-year-old Duan Davis – who had been shot.

Despite CPR attempts, Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

TCSO said a search warrant was then executed in the overnight hours at Davis' home, located within the Community First! neighborhood.

TSCO said 19-year-old Quentyn Ervin-Davis has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with his father's death.

According to an affidavit, Ervin-Davis and another family member had driven to Community First! Village around 9 p.m. to provide Davis with a ride to get food. While in the neighborhood, the three family members got into a verbal and physical altercation, which ended with Ervin-Davis shooting Davis, the affidavit said.

Ervin-Davis allegedly left the scene without calling 911 before he was pulled over by the sheriff's office.

TCSO said its investigation into this shooting is ongoing. An autopsy was performed on Davis on March 25 and results are pending.
