Leander city employee shot at Benbrook Ranch Park

Officers said a 31-year-old city of Leander employee entered a bathroom to clean it and was reportedly shot with a pistol by 32-year-old Hannah Morgan-Barber.

LEANDER, Texas — A Leander woman was arrested Friday morning after reportedly shooting a city employee at a city park. 

At approximately 6:45 a.m. on July 12, the Leander Police Department responded to a call at Benbrook Ranch Park, located on the 1100 block of Halsey Drive.

Officers said a 31-year-old city of Leander employee entered a bathroom to clean it and was reportedly shot with a pistol by 32-year-old Hannah Morgan-Barber.

Soon thereafter, Morgan-Barber was located at the 14000 block of Hero Way, roughly five minutes away from the park where the incident happened. 

Morgan-Barber was arrested and transported to the Williamson County Jail, where she was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. 

Meanwhile, the victim was taken to a hospital, where she is expected to recover. 

Leander police said there is no threat to the public, and the park remains open as usual. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
