AUSTIN -- Police have arrested a man in connection with robbing two Burger King restaurants, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police charged 34-year-old Leandre Morris III with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony. An image of Morris is not available pending photo lineups.

An arrest affidavit states officers responded to a robbery at a Burger King at 7105 North Interstate 35 around 6:34 a.m. on Nov. 12. The affidavit states witnesses told police that the man was wearing a presidential mask, walking with a limp and carrying a semi-automatic gun. Police said he demanded cash from the safe and registers but told employees he did not want any coins. He walked away with $6,000 from the safe.

Police responded to another robbery exactly a week later, just after 6 a.m. at a Burger King at 2508 East Riverside Drive. Police said the assistant manager told them the robber was wearing a presidential mask and carrying a black handgun. The affidavit states he went behind the counter and demanded money from the register and the safe. The assistant manager gave him money from two of the registers, and the manager then noticed that the gun was not real but a BB pistol.

The affidavit states as Morris was leaving, the assistant manager attempted to grab him, but Morris fell over and reached into his pocket. Afraid that Morris had a weapon, the assistant manager went outside, where he saw the night shift manager in the parking lot. Police said Morris then pulled out a revolver and fired at the assistant manager, striking the night shift manager twice in the torso.

Police said they used surveillance video to determine that Morris was the robber.
