A Cedar Park teen accused of stealing several pieces of mail that contained checks and other identifying documents has also been connected to a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a woman in May.
According to police, Nathan Seth Mohr, 18, was stopped by an officer along with his friend in Williamson County on July 4. An envelope fell from Mohr, which the officer later identified as a check belonging to someone in the neighborhood.
When the officer searched Mohr and his friend, 19-year-old Forest Scott Terven, he found several pieces of mail intended for other people in the neighborhood that included checks and a credit card approval letter.
The officer later made contact with at least one of the people expecting the mail who decided to press charges. The pair also admitted they had both gone into mailboxes.
In a separate affidavit obtained Wednesday, KVUE found that Mohr allegedly ran a red light in Round Rock on May 6, which resulted in a collision with a driver who was traveling through a green light at the intersection. A witness told police he saw Mohr jump over a nearby privacy wall and flee the scene.
The victim of the hit-and-run went to the hospital and received 12 stitches for an injury on her leg.
As the victim received help, police searched the abandoned vehicle and found pay stubs with the name, "Nathan Seth Mohr." Later that night after the crash scene was cleared, police said Mohr called the department and confessed to leaving the scene after crashing his car. He told police he "was scared and did not want to go to jail."
Online records at the Williamson County Jail state Mohr is being held on $20,000 bond.
