BURNET COUNTY, Texas — A Central Texas man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a child.

On Sept. 18, Jackey Martin was sentenced by 33rd District County Judge Allan Garrett and a Burnet County jury for abusing an 8-year-old.

According to the Burnet County District Attorney's Office, Martin was caught by the child's mother, whom he lived with at the time of the incident. Law enforcement was then informed of the abuse.

The jury heard testimony from a sexual assault nurse examiner, who recovered DNA sample and noted injuries to the child, and a DNA analyst, who said the DNA sample recovered from the child matched Martin.

Martin was officially found guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.

"This was a great victory for both law enforcement and the child's family," District Attorney Sonny McAfee said. "And a Burnet County jury sent a very clear message that the people of our District have no tolerance for the abuse of children."

“A child should never have to face something like this, but today a Burnet County jury delivered justice," Assistant District Attorney Carson Guy added. “The jury reached the right result, and we’re proud to protect the community from child predators.”
