The Austin Police Department has confirmed to KVUE March 1 that police have a person of interest in a hit-and-run at a gas station parking lot that was caught on video in South Austin.
Austin PD Public Information Officer Anna Sabana confirmed with KVUE Thursday that APD impounded a vehicle that could be related to the hit-and-run. Due to the case being an open investigation, Sabana could not confirm whether or not the vehicle towed and impounded belonged to the person of interest. Austin police could not release more information about the person of interest, either.
APD said at approximately 2 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, officers responded to a call regarding an auto-pedestrian crash at a gas station in the 700 block of E. Ben White Boulevard. Witnesses told police they saw a truck strike the female pedestrian before fleeing eastbound on E. Ben White Boulevard.
APD sent the following video of the incident with hopes that the public could help identify the vehicle:

On Wednesday, police said the woman was still in the hospital but would not provide details on her condition.
