AUSTIN, Texas — A woman has been charged in connection with the death of a man whose body was found after he was reported missing in April in Austin.
According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the body of Cristian Rangel was found on April 19 at the 5800 block of Spring Meadow Road.
Officers responded to the location after receiving reports of a deceased man, and crime scene specialists and detectives arrived soon thereafter. Rangel was subsequently identified in the investigation.
Before his body was located, Rangel had last been seen in the passenger seat of an SUV on April 8 in a Walmart parking lot on the 5000 block of US Highway 290 Service Road Eastbound. The Walmart is about eight miles from where his body was found.
An autopsy report revealed that Rangel's body had injuries consistent with being assaulted.
Police have charged 31-year-old Kamery Woolridge with tampering with human remains after it was discovered that she had some involvement in Rangel's death and the disposal of his body.
The investigation into Rangel's death, which is Austin's 39th homicide of 2024, is still ongoing.
