AUSTIN -- A woman who was previously convicted in 2008 for stabbing a victim in the face is now being accused of stabbing a man and his wife in their garage.
According to an arrest affidavit, on May 22 around 9:36 a.m., the Austin Police Department received a call from a woman who said her neighbor was on her doorstep bleeding.
Police said when they arrived at the residence, they found the wife with stab wounds to her face and neck and a trail of blood leading into the garage. Police then reportedly found the wife's husband with stab wounds to his face and neck.
Upon further investigation, officials found smeared blood in several places and the suspect's fingerprints on one of the vehicles in the garage, police said.
The husband told police that he was inside his garage when the suspect, identified as Morina Haywood, 36, parked her vehicle in front of his house and walked towards him. Haywood then allegedly asked the husband for "salve" that she could use to treat a rash on her leg, but the husband informed her that he did not have any and walked away, police said.
The husband then reportedly told police that 15 minutes later, he was standing in his garage when Haywood started stabbing him. According to police, the husband then yelled for his wife's help. When the wife went into the garage to see what was going on, Haywood allegedly started stabbing her.
The wife and the husband suffered from multiple stab wounds to their face, neck and upper back, according to the affidavit.
Around 12:56 p.m., police responded to a reckless driver reported on Manor Road and identified the driver as Haywood. According to the affidavit, police described Haywood as a "manic" and "delusional," and arrested her for being a danger to herself and others.
Haywood told police she got high on PCP the night before and that her friend "lit her on fire," according to the affidavit. Police said Haywood's fingerprint was a positive match with the fingerprint found inside the couple's garage.
According to police records, Haywood is a suspect in a separate stabbing case that occurred on May 9 in Austin. Police said Haywood also received a conviction in 2008 for stabbing another victim in the face.
Haywood has been charged with two counts of injury to the elderly and has bonds set at $250,000 for each count. According to online records, Haywood is in police custody as of Tuesday afternoon.
