Democratic presidential candidates to attend SXSW in Austin

Some Democratic presidential candidates and Republican politicians will be in attendance at this year's SXSW.

AUSTIN, Texas — With the presidential election nearing, politicians have come forward to announce their candidacy for 2020. This year at SXSW, some Democratic presidential  candidates and Republican politicians will be part of Texas Tribune panels.

Chief Programming Officer for SXSW Hugh Forrest said "there is no better place to have these important conversations about the future of our country and the many issues facing it than SXSW."

Speakers that will be participating in this series include Julian Castro, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar, John Kasich, Kevin McCarthy and more to be announced.

SXSW says the two-day series, "Conversations About America's Future" will bring these top politicians to talk about their own innovative and visionary plans that will shape our country through this next election and beyond.

Texas Tribune CEO Evan Smith said their mission is to raise the levels of civic engagement – both in Texas and out-of-state, by having these serious conversations.

The event will take place on March 9 and 10 at ACL Live at the Moody Theater as part of the ciities, government and politics track.
