SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The superintendent of the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District is stepping down.
Mark Eads sent a letter to the school board Thursday saying his resignation is effective Jan. 31.
The district's website says he is "resigning from public education," but doesn't mention any future plans.
"I am so proud to have had the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful organization and to have developed relationships that will continue. My family and I love this area, and we look forward to being active members of the District and community," Eads said in the letter.
Eads has been superintendent in San Marcos since May 2011.
